Upgraded from the base model PD-M520, the PD-M540 pedals have a better quality 'streamlined' spindle that eliminates the pedal-spanner 'flats' - looks nicer and shaves off a few grams. The PD-M540 pedals also have a better bearing seal to protect from mud and water, making them one of the most durable and bullet-proof products Shimano has ever made. 

The PD-M540 is a high performance and extremely lightweight SPD race pedal that won’t let you down. Cleat retention adjustment is apparent on both sides of the pedal and a set of Shimano SM-SH51 cleats are included.
